Digital Media Services

We offer a wide range of DM services relating to:

Digital Media

  • Live Streaming
  • Video Recording/Hosting
  • Multimedia
  • Photography
  • Website/Course Development
Digital media refers to audio, video, and photo content that have been encoded (digitally compressed). Encoding content involves converting audio and video input into a digital media file such as a Windows Media file. After digital media is encoded, it can be easily manipulated, distributed, and rendered (played) by computers, and is easily transmitted over computer networks.

CMS Digital Media is a full service in-house video and streaming resource. We are dedicated to producing and delivering professional quality multimedia content for Partners educational programs, meetings, conferences, special events, and consultation.

CMS Digital Media services include HD digital video production, media conversion, media duplication, web design, live web streaming, and video on-demand.  CMS’s experienced, professional staff leverages the skills and technology required to capture, present, distribute and share your intended audience.

Pre-production
pre-production may refer to everything that happens before shooting begins, for example, meeting with the client, research, storyboarding, location planning, production schedule, staffing, etc

PDM will assist you in the creative development process to help refine your message and plan for the production of your project. We manage all aspects of pre-production including scripting, storyboarding and location scouting.

We provide a Videographer and production assistant for recording your content for Live/On-demand and web/DVD/Blue-ray delivery.

Our portable video production package includes HD professional cameras, pro-audio recording devices, tapeless video recording devices, and lighting kits for the event documentation, interview shooting, and B-roll footage.

Post-production and Editing
Post-production and editing include motion graphics, color correction, titling, character generation, chromakeying, pan and scan of still images, adding voice-overs and music. PDM’s high-end editing studio can input and/or output onto almost any professional or consumer video format.

Live & On-Demand Video Streaming Service
Live streaming refers to taking the media and broadcasting it live over the internet. The process involves a camera for the media, an encoder to digitize the content, a media publisher where the streams are made available to potential end-users as well as a content delivery network to distribute and deliver the content.

CMS’s mobile encoding streaming station can go onsite and encode right from your live event. For the creation of on-demand online delivery, CMS uses state-of-the-art hardware and software by professional streaming specialists.  Have us stream your course/event or convert your video clips into any of these streaming video formats: MPEG2, MPEG4, FLV (Flash movie) and Windows Media. DM also provides hosting services of your files on a specially configured broadband server and we send you easy to follow instructions and code for placement on your website.

Broadcasting via live streaming video is an effective way to raise the profile of any event and broaden the potential audience.. It is of great use as an education and training tool, allowing remote viewers to gain certification and training tools effectively and inexpensively.

Our mobile streaming system can broadcast your event live over the web from any location with internet connectivity. We use state-of-the-art hardware and software to prepare your content for both live and on-demand delivery. Supported streaming video formats include MPEG-2, MPEG-4, Flash and Windows Media. We also can tailor the security of the stream to your desired audience, requiring Partners credentials to view the stream when necessary, broadcast out to the general public or create specific credential requirements for your event.

We also offer content hosting services on a specially configured broadband streaming server. We can provide you with easy-to-follow instructions and embed code to enable you to place your media on to your website.

Viewing Best Practices

For best viewing and hearing be sure to:
– use a computer with headphones
– use a wired internet connection (not WIFI)
– close all unneeded running applications
– avoid any other network-intensive tasks (large file transfers, etc.)
– allow video to buffer for up to 90 seconds before reloading page
– ensure Windows volume control is at maximum level
– ensure speaker volume is set to a comfortable level (laptops may have hardware volume controls on case)
– please keep in mind that there can be up to a 60 second buffering delay on the user end

If you are having difficulty viewing the broadcasts:
– live streaming does not function using GotoPC or VPN
– try refreshing the link / reloading web page
– try loading the URL in a Firefox browser
– restart your computer
– check volume in the Windows control panel
– check speaker volume (laptops may have hardware volume controls on case)

Web Design and Multimedia Production
Multimedia comes in many different formats. It can be almost anything you can hear or see; Examples: Pictures, music, sound, videos, records, films, animations, and more. Modern web pages often have embedded multimedia elements, and modern browsers have support for various multimedia formats.

PDM provides professional web development to Partners Healthcare organizations including web site design and multimedia into your website and web-based content management. Our web service includes site concepts & design, usability consulting, static/animated ads, and multimedia content.

Webinar Support: Web-based seminar
Web-based seminar is a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web using video conferencing software. A key feature of a Webinar is its interactive elements — the ability to give, receive and discuss information. Contrast with Webcast, in which the data transmission is one way and does not allow interaction between the presenter and the audience.

Webinars are an ideal solution to those looking for a cost effective way to support interactive multi-site administrative and educational programs.  PCM provides webinar consulting services and support for your program needs.  During a preliminary webinar consultation meeting, we will review your needs, explain all possible options and help you decide on the best course of action.  Whether your event is a simple slide presentation or a more complex event requiring desktop sharing and software demonstrations, our webinar support team will provide you with expert assistance.
